INSTALLATION FORMATS

The NOMAR system easily adapts to all types of docks and floats. The unique materials are completely UV protected, shock absorbing, easily maintained, with NO MARRING. NOMAR easily installs and hardware is provided.
PERMANENT MOUNTING
  1. Start by laying the bumpers out to the desired spacing.

  2. For mounting on the face of the dock it is not  necessary to remove the vinyl edging before mounting the bumpers; it's your option.

  3. Place the bumper in the desired position; place a #10 screw with a finish washer in the center of the upper  lip  of the  bumper.  Work towards the ends, spacing them approx. 5" apart.

  4. Repeat the process for the bottom side.

  1. Start by laying the bumpers out to the desired spacing.

  2. For this type of mounting format it is necessary to remove the vinyl edging before mounting the bumpers.

  3. Place the bumper in the desired position with the upper lip over the top of the dock.

  4. Start with a #10 screw and finish washer at the center of the bumper. Work towards the ends placing them approx. 5" apart. Bend the bumper over into position and repeat the process for the bottom side.

CORNER MOUNTING

All NOMAR corner units are pre-notched to help conform around the end of the docks. There is a right side and a left side of these units.

To tell them apart the thermal cut side goes down and the larger end goes on the inside of the slip.

  1. Before mounting pre-bend the bumper to locate the notched area and help with locating the unit on the dock.

  2. Start with the small side first, mounting it to
the dock, allowing the notched area to be at
the corner of the dock.  Then form the bumper around the corner and finish mounting.

  3. Place screws approx. 2 to 3 inch apart on the top and bottom of the unit.

DEFENDER WRAP

The Defender solves the common problem of needing to safely dock between posts, without damage to the rub rail or sides of your vessel.  In any weather condition, the adjustable Defender wrap is secure and as shock absorbing as any Nomar bumper, made with the same materials and 100% UV protected polyester fabric that lasts decades.  Comes with optional permanent mounting hardware as well.

STRAP MOUNTING

(YOU DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE THE DOCK VINYL FOR INSTALLATION)

  1. Start by laying the bumpers out to the desired spacing. It might be necessary to move the bumper right or left a few inches to accommodate all three straps through the dock.

  2. For mounting on the face of the dock it is not  necessary to remove the vinyl edging before  mounting the bumpers; It's your option.

  3. Place the bumper in the desired position. Place the  middle strap of the bumper through the first spacing  in the dock, feed it all the way through. Retrieve the  strap from the under side of the dock. Lace the strap through the two 0-rings and tighten as you would a motorcycle helmet keeping the D-rings close to the bottom of the bumper.

  4. Repeat the process for the remaining straps.

  5. Roll up excess strap and tuck behind the 0-rings.

  6. Push the bumper down to snug into position.

BUILD-OUT INFORMATION

The build-out material is INSUFOAM found in a variety of thickness at your local hardware stores like Lowe's or Home Depot.  This product comes in 4' x 8' sheets sealed on both sides. Cut along the 4' side achieving a piece 7" wide by 48" long, then place behind the bumper and tighten straps securing foam between bumper and dock.

The typical sail or power boat
hull will need no build-out for installation.

build_out_diagram2.gif

Performance hull sail boats may need build-outs to give added clearance to docks. This can be accomplished with 1" to 2" of INSUFOAM.

The typical build-out for bows are 0" to 3" for sail and power boats on a flush dock.

PAD-EYE MOUNTING

(YOU DO NOT NEED TO REMOVE THE DOCK VINYL FOR INSTALLATION)

  1. Start by laying the bumpers out to the desired spacing.

  2. Lay out pad-eyes in conjunction with the strap  spacing on the top side of the dock and secure the pad-eyes with the #10 screws.

  3. Line the bottom pad-eyes up with the top pad-eyes and secure them in place with #10 screws. Keep in mind that the placement of the lower pad-eyes will dictate the location of bumper on the  dock (how high or low the unit is).

4. Starting with the center strap and keeping the thermal cut side on the bottom, place the bumper in position and lace                      the middle strap over and back through the middle pad-eye, then down the face of the dock and through the bottom pad-eye.

5. Lace the strap through the 0-rings and tighten just like a motorcycle helmet or belt buckle. Keep the 0-rings up close to the            bottom of the bumper to assure a snug fit. Repeat the process for the remaining straps.

CARE FOR YOUR NOMAR BUMPER SYSTEM

The maintenance of the NOMAR System is extremely easy due to it's construction. We encase the foam with a PVC lining, preventing build up around the Polyethylene foam.

So, what does this mean for you?  Simple; our product is cleaned with a lite pressure washing.  Again, A LITE PRESSURE WASHING…the point of the wand shouldn't be any closer than 12 inches from fabric.  In the most extreme case you may need to use a bit of Simple Green or another environmentally friendly soap.  We have found to that a good strong spray nozzle works in most cases. This will bring your system back to near new condition. We recommend if possible to clean them every 6 months.
